Starting and Staying Motivated with an Exercise Routine

Motivation Lists

Starting and maintaining an exercise routine after a stroke can be challenging. Here are some tips that I suggest to stay motivated.

1/..  Commit to 3 days per week,

2/..  Commit to the time.

3/..  Start with low Intensity and short durations.

4/..  Gradually Increase Intensity, Duration & Frequency

Starting slow and increasing Intensity, duration and frequency over time.  This will prevent injury and ensure a safe and effective recovery.

The following tips can help a stroke survivor maintain motivation and achieve a regulr fitness routine.

  • Set achievable goals.
  • Change the exercise activity if it is not working for you.
  • Try different fitness exercises until you find one that you like and are more likely to stick to.
  • Enlist the support of family and friends.
  • Track your progress e.g. Wearable Technology, Journal
  • Working with your Healthcare Provider and or a Fitness Professional

It’s important to work with a healthcare provider and or a fitness professional to develop a safe and effective exercise routine that considers your needs, abilities, and limitations. By starting slowly, setting achievable goals, and enlisting the support of loved ones, stroke survivors can achieve better health and well-being.
